Community Feeding Programme
Our feeding programme plays a crucial role in the lives of street dogs across Colombo and the communities surrounding our shelter in Bandaragama. Each morning at 5:30 AM, our dedicated team sets out to provide nourishing meals to over 200 stray dogs in Colombo, as well as many others in the outlying areas.
For many of these dogs, especially those living on the streets or in more isolated locations, this programme is their only consistent source of food. Aside from the occasional scraps they may scavenge, the meals we offer are essential for their survival, health, and general well-being.
In Colombo, our team focuses on areas where street dogs are most in need, offering not just food but also a moment of compassion and care. These animals are often overlooked, abandoned, or neglected – our daily presence brings them a sense of comfort and dignity.
Meanwhile, in Bandaragama, our shelter's feeding programme also supports local families who struggle to feed their own pets. Due to challenging living conditions, many households in the area cannot afford regular meals for their animals. Our efforts ensure that both stray dogs and pets from low-income families receive the nourishment they need to thrive.
This programme is about more than simply feeding dogs – it’s about treating them with kindness, respect, and humanity. By providing daily meals to over 200 dogs across Colombo and Bandaragama, we aim to ease their suffering, improve their health, and offer them hope for a better future.
Our commitment to animal welfare drives everything we do, and this initiative is a powerful reminder that every life matters – regardless of circumstances.
