Feeding Programme
Our feeding programme plays a vital role in the lives of dogs across Colombo, Port City, and the local communities near our shelter in Bandaragama. Every morning, our dedicated team begins at 5:30 AM to provide essential meals to over 200 dogs in Colombo alone, as well as the stray dogs in surrounding areas.
For many of these dogs, especially those living on the streets or in remote areas, our programme is the only reliable source of food. Aside from the occasional scraps they may scavenge, the nutritious meal we provide each morning is vital for their survival and overall well-being.
In Port City Colombo, our team targets areas with high foot traffic, where stray dogs depend on our daily support. The feeding programme is not just about providing food – it’s about offering a moment of care, compassion, and hope to animals that have often been abandoned or neglected.
In Bandaragama, the local communities also rely heavily on our shelter’s feeding programme to provide food for their own animals. Due to poor living conditions, many families struggle to feed their pets. Our daily feeding efforts ensure that not only the stray dogs in the area but also the pets of local families receive the nourishment they need. The people in Bandaragama often depend on our support to care for their animals, making our programme a lifeline for both the animals and the families who care for them.
Our programme’s goal is more than just feeding – it’s about treating these animals with dignity and kindness, ensuring they receive the care they deserve. By feeding over 200 dogs in Colombo and Bandaragama every day, we help reduce their suffering, improve their health, and give them a chance at a better life. This initiative is a testament to our commitment to animal welfare, showing that every life matters, no matter the circumstances.
